Community Reference Group
The Wandoan Coal Project Community Reference Group (CRG) was formed in October 2007.
Members of the CRG have active connections to community groups and organisations, and are broadly representative of the local community. The CRG and its members play an integral role in the Project’s consultation process by being a forum for the discussion and exchange of information on topics relating to the feasibility of the Project; assisting the Project team to identify local issues relating to the Project that can be addressed as part of the pre-feasibility study, feasibility study and EIS process; and acting as a two-way communication link between the Project, the community and stakeholders.
Two CRG meetings have been held in 2008. During these meetings CRG members were provided with an update of the Project and the opportunity to raise new issues and ask questions. Issues discussed at the meeting included:
- impacts on flora and fauna

- the potential use of coal seam gas water
- Glebe Weir studies
- local employment
- the mine site accommodation village and housing in Wandoan
- the proposed rail corridor
- property owner involvement
- impacts on schools and student numbers
- on-site fire prevention facilities
- weed management
- community health
- economic benefits
- community safety, and
- town planning.
