Xstrata Coal's occupational health and hygiene programs include the identification of health hazards, assessment of exposure with reference to internationally recognised monitoring standards, implementation of controls to eliminate or minimise exposure to the hazards and the provision of personal protective equipment where controls do not effectively reduce the risk exposure.

The key considerations for the proposed Wandoan Coal Project, as with all Xstrata sites, will be noise, dust, degenerative musculoskeletal conditions, heat stress and wellbeing.  Safety systems and management procedures will be developed to address these issues.
